A new 2005 addition to the Alessi product stable we are proud to introduce the Geo-Proust hand painted limited edition drip coffee maker! Among the many things he has done in life, Alessandro Mendini also happens to be an expert in small kitchen appliances. He is the one who, in the early 90s, worked with Alberto Alessi in co-ordinating and inspiring a group of designers at Philips. This spawned a little family of four electrical objects that, at the time, was called "Alessi workshop". Though it was short-lived on the market, it nevertheless influenced much of the design in this sector for the entire decade. Thus, it should come as no surprise that Alessi asked Alessandro to work with Stefano Giovannoni to continue the Alessi family of electrical objects. Even as Alberto Alessi asked him, he imagined that Alessandro would come up with a very different approach with respect to the one pursued by his young colleague. And this was indeed the case! Geo brings to the fore an expressive, decorative and anthropomorphic language that is absolutely unprecedented in the world of kitchen appliances. This explicitly artistic approach is underscored by the presentation of a hand-painted version, the "Geo-Proust", which has been put out in a limited numbered production only drip coffee maker. Geo is a drip coffee maker with a drip-stop system. This means that the value automatically stops when the jug is removed. The jug and reservoir have a measuring scale, so you can use the right amount of water.
